     Office of the Secretary

  APPEALS

The Bureau of Appeals:

  • Maintains a system of administrative hearings for clients and providers affected by decisions made within the Department of Social Services as required by federal regulations and state statutes.  This system protects the rights and interests of affected citizens who feel their rights have been denied, or against whom official action has been taken by providing an unbiased forum, with due process, in which they may voice their concerns relative to programmatic decisions.

  • Conducts public rulemaking hearings on behalf of DSS in various locations across the state, thus allowing concerned citizens to provide information on rules proposed by state agencies.
