Planning
- Serves as the coordinating unit for DSS planning, policy formulation and issuance, rulemaking, and evaluation and research.
- Coordinates the dissemination of DSS policy, procedures, and departmental memoranda on the DSS Policy Management System.
- Develops standardized processes for utilization by all DSS Offices in the development of policies, rules, plans, and evaluations.
- Serves as a clearinghouse for planning, policy, and evaluation data.
- Tracks state legislation impacting DSS during regular and special sessions.
- Reviews and analyzes state and federal legislation and regulations.
- Serves as webmaster for the Office of the Secretary and the Office of Management and Finance.
- Prepares position papers and special studies/reports relative to DSS programmatic or administrative duties.
Budget
- Develops and maintains responsibility for the DSS budget.
- Establishes, issues, and administers budget standards, policies, and guidelines.
- Monitors and controls budget activities.
- Provides technical assistance and budget training.
- Evaluates budget request documents.
- Monitors the legislative budget process.
- Conducts expenditure analyses.
- Analyzes, prepares, or assists with BA-7´s and fiscal impact statements.
- Interacts with the Division of Administration Planning and Budget Office and Legislative Fiscal Office.
